| Rizwan Virk, Managing Partner
Rizwan Virk (aka "Riz") possesses extensive experience as an entrepreneur, technologist, and author. He is nationally known as a thought leader in social media, knowledge management, entrepreneruship, and XML.
Riz studied Computer Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and studied Management at the Graduate School of Business (GSB) at Stanford University as a Sloan Fellow.
Since starting BayViewLabs in 2007, Riz has served as either interim CTO or an advisor/angel investor to a number of leading edge startups, including: OfferPal Media (Social Application Advertising), Intelligize (Legal Documents for the Financial Industry), MyHappyPlanet (Social Network), Nextier Networks (Enterprise Content Security), and Gnomiverse (3d virtual world Instant Messaging).
From 2002-2007, Riz was CEO/CTO of CambridgeDocs (www.cambridgedocs.com) which makes a leading technology platform for XML transformation and publishing. CambridgeDocs was acquired by EMC Document Sciences (NYSE:EMC) in 2007, where he served as Director of XML Technology.
Before CambridgeDocs, Riz was CEO and founder of Inner Vision Technologies, an Internet consulting firm specializing in enterprise information portals. Inner Vision was acquired by Unitas Corporation in 2000, where he served as CTO.
Prior to Inner Vision, Riz was a co-founder of Service Metrics, an Internet company that developed technology to monitor performance of web sites, and which was purchased by Exodus Communications in 1999 for $280 million.
From 1993-1997, Riz was CEO and co-founder of Brainstorm Technologies, a fast-growth company that helped more than 2000 customer organizations develop and deploy collaborative applications using Lotus Notes. Brainstorm's products were acquired by Percussion Software in 1997.
